Tech Events Are Everywhere

If you’re a CIO or a partner or even a platform admin, your inbox is probably filled with invites to this or that summit, world tour or symposium. All proudly hosted by whichever software company is looking for your business.

But events cost money… and time (which equals money). So how do you work out what to go to and what to miss?
I guess it depends on what you value.
If I’m going to an event, I value the things I can’t get from a quick online dive. I value connection.
A month ago I was sitting in the sun outside the Agentforce World Tour Melbourne. I’d heard the keynote, been impressed by the Headless 360 demo, walked past the sponsor booths (and saw some cool stuff). But now I was in the sun, talking to a friend about how we were going with life.
We talked about our respective staff teams. How they were growing, what they were learning. We talked about customers and obstacles they were facing. And we talked honestly about burnout and the fatigue that comes from running your own business. I thought then, this is what an event is for.
It’s about humans. Connecting around things they can’t just look up on a product faq. It’s about moving past the big sell to the real life and the real stuff we’re trying to do with these amazing tools at our fingertips. It’s about struggle and joy and honesty and connection.
There are so many events on in the calendar. I feel like the ones that are worth investing in are the ones that put connection at the centre.
So with that in mind, here are some links to check out, including a great upcoming event:
I sat down with Jack McCurdy a few weeks back to talk about exactly this. The conversation was all around keeping human connection at the centre of our
industry. Watch on YouTube here, or go find it anywhere you get your podcasts.
Jack writes at Medium, and this post was beautiful
If you are in Melbourne (or want to travel for a quality conference), and part of the Salesforce Ecosystem, you can’t do better than True Blue Blazing for an event that fosters connection. Early bird tickets available till July 31.
